Why Infometrics regional GDP and Employment estimates differ from BERL’s

Both Infometrics and BERL publish estimates of GDP and employment for each territorial authority (TA) and region in New Zealand. Our estimates are often different, resulting in clients asking about the reasons for the differences. In this short article I explain some of the major reasons for the differences based on our understanding of BERL’s methodology.
