Why have Infometrics taken their tourism GDP and employment estimates off the profiles?

In the 2015 Regional Economic Profiles Infometrics we made substantial revisions to our time series of regional tourism GDP and employment.  The changes arise from fundamental revisions to a number of the key sources of information which we use to generate our numbers. We have done a lot of delving into the data to try and understand how the changes to this source data have flowed through to our final numbers. Our final conclusion is that there are inconsistencies in these data sources and we have subsequently taken our regional tourism estimates down from the profiles. We have raised this issue with Statistics New Zealand and we will only republish our regional tourism estimates when the issues have been resolved.
