Getting a handle on the accommodation shortage

The tourism sector is under significant pressure from the rapid growth in visitor arrivals over the last three years, perhaps nowhere more so than in terms of accommodation. In this article, we try to quantify how critical the shortage of commercial accommodation is. We also put the government’s pledge of $12m to help fund tourism infrastructure in perspective next to the GST revenue the government is currently getting.
