June tip off for a building boom
Early consent data from BCI New Zealand suggests that tomorrow’s building consent results will be at their highest in at least 12 years. Earlier this week we highlighted that building activity will rocket to unprecedented highs within the next two years as the effort to relieve pressures in Auckland’s housing market gains momentum. In the nick of time, the Auckland Council has announced its Unitary Plan, just as the Auckland Housing Accord – which has been pushing through both housing consents and resource consents for new sections over the past three years – comes to a close. All we need now is for the Unitary Plan to be ratified by the councillors.
