Mieke WelvaertThe New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) announced its shortlist of options for re-routing the Manawatū George connection on Wednesday, October 11th. Unsurprisingly, none of which are planned to pass through the gorge itself. A lack of stability in the hillside next to the Gorge has meant that any option along the existing road has been ruled out on the basis of price and safety concerns.
