The new PTA is disappointingly vague
After much build-up by the Labour government, the changes to the Policy Targets Agreement (PTA) with the Reserve Bank were underwhelming. Yes, the Bank now must consider employment when setting monetary policy, but there are no numbers specifying what ”maximum sustainable employment” is. And it is rather difficult to hit a target if we don’t know what the target is.
