Big firm failures raise non-residential questions

The substantial losses being suffered by Fletcher Building in its Building + Interiors business led the company in February to announce its withdrawal from bidding on vertical construction projects in New Zealand. In its statement, Fletcher Building said that the market “remains characterised by high contract risk and low margins” and that “unless these dynamics change we will no longer work in this sector.”
