Government switches track on transport funding

Rail and rapid transit are set to take centre stage under the new government, quite likely at the expense of roading projects. This focus on alternative transport is a clear divergence from the former National government which focused on state highways and similar roading infrastructure in its previous Government Policy Statement on Land Transport (GPS).
