Each year, the average New Zealander spends 300 hours (or 3% of their time) travelling, and they travel a total of just over 10,700kms. That’s a national total of 1.4b hours and 51b kilometres. Our average travel speed is 36km/h, which rises to 40km/h for car travel – although people driving through central Auckland during rush hour might beg to differ.
