It’s electrifying – so you better shake up
The potential of electric vehicles has skyrocketed since the invention of the lithium-ion battery in the 80s and its commercialisation in the 90s. Sales of electric vehicles in New Zealand have risen exponentially since about 2015. Despite strong growth, New Zealand still lags well behind some countries like the Netherlands and Norway, due to their wide range of government subsidies and electric vehicle infrastructure. However, improving technology and greater competition will eventually shift the market, making electric vehicles more affordable to a wider audience.
