The case for congestion pricing in Auckland

Big cities offer a lot. There are more jobs on offer and a far greater choice of products and services close to home compared with smaller towns. However, when your transportation networks become congested, it limits the advantages of urban agglomeration and imposes social costs of wasted time and resources. The Congestion Question (TCQ), prepared by central and local government highlights Auckland’s congestion problem and proposes congestion pricing as an effective tool to reduce congestion. This article outlines the argument proposed in this report.
