Housing crisis demands policy changes

The latest data shows the housing market continuing to accelerate at the end of 2020. But policy responses from the government and Reserve Bank are unlikely to be bold enough to fully quell the market this year. Housing affordability will continue to get worse in 2021, and an improvement in the supply of housing remains the key to a sustained change in affordability metrics.
