Rampant demand drives regional building cost pressures
Recent Consumers Price Index data showed that headline inflation spiked from 1.5% to 3.3%pa between the March and June quarters this year. One of the significant contributors to the surge, and a figure that certainly caught our eyes, was the 4.6% quarterly jump in the “purchase of housing” component, which effectively measures residential building costs.
